Senior Vice President - Government Affairs
The National Community Pharmacists Association is seeking a Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. This position is responsible for directing federal and state legislative and regulatory advocacy; leading the development of the Association's legislative positions and strategies; and representing the interests of community pharmacy and its patients before Congress, the Administration, federal agencies and state legislatures.

Responsibilities include creating and implementing effective plans of action leading to the development of policy and legislation important to community pharmacy and its patients; lobbying Congress and federal regulatory agencies on behalf of the association; managing the government affairs staff; monitoring congressional and state legislative activities affecting community pharmacy and its patients; and utilizing the organization's grassroots mobilization of small business owners, patients, and industry stakeholders. Candidate must collaborate with the organization's CEO and other senior management as well as industry representatives. Candidate will have experience working with media and member inquiries and oversee department budget. Communication skills are an essential attribute including the ability to collaborate on effective messaging plans with the association's communications team.

Ideal candidate will be a registered lobbyist and have at least 10 years of congressional staff or congressional relations experience in federal and state healthcare issues, an emphasis on Medicare and Medicaid programs is a plus; Capitol Hill and Administration contacts important, experience overseeing PAC and LDF fundraising, and managing a diverse staff. The position requires a proven track record as a political and industry strategist, successful organizational and stakeholder management skills, and excellent written and presentation skills.
